Common Bond

An ending, just like the beginning: Human. Movement. Community.

People wanted more yoga, and especially yoga that went "beyond" the traditional sweaty, self-aggrandizing performative fitness space.

In January of 2018 we had two "studios" in the works, SD&Y's POP-UP Studio and a new lease on 326 Main Street, in the heart of Springfield.

We soft-opened Common Bond in March, Grand Opening in April and still ran a full slate of STOP DROP & YOGA events all year long.

I'm slowly beginning to accept, what I've already told you, that on April 29th, Common Bond Yoga will be closing its doors. Our Closing Ceremonies Party is April 26th at the Studio.Trying to channel motivation to say goodbye is much harder than hello, but it's an important part of the process.

I will be updating our website with a new page for each YEAR of our existence. In 2017, STOP DROP & YOGA was born with one question: "where are the people who DO NOT do come to the yoga studio?" I set out to find out. In search of the answer, here are some of the places I taught yoga:

While it was a big experiment, creating non-traditional classes in non-traditional locations led me to many of YOU, who are still here in 2025. We'll talk more about Common Bond and its origin this weekend, but it was these classes that started my path out of the wilderness. In fact, you may not know, but I was fired from the first studio I ever taught yoga at. STOP DROP & YOGA made me believe in myself again.
