Earlier this month, Hope’s The Autism Program (TAP) participated in the Central Illinois Autism Association’s Annual Autism Walk!

Events like these offer opportunities to connect with our community, share resources, and support greater awareness of autism. Thank you to the Central Illinois Autism Association for bringing the community together!

This week, TAP’s Training Coordinator visited the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) to provide staff training on autism in the workplace and ways to create a more supportive, inclusive work environment.

The training focused on understanding that no two people with autism are alike and how individualized support can help remove barriers and empower employees to succeed.

Feedback from attendees highlighted how the training offered practical, easy-to-understand information that could benefit all supervisors, not just those working with employees with autism.

TAP is now accepting presentation proposals for TAP N2 Hope 2027!

We’re looking for engaging speakers who can share valuable insights, innovative ideas, research, resources, and real-world experiences with our conference attendees.

TAP N2 Hope 2027 will take place February 25, 2027, at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, Illinois.

Have you heard of the Blue Envelope Program?

It's a simple tool designed to help make traffic stops safer and more understanding for drivers with autism. Earlier this year, Sangamon County joined other communities in implementing the program locally. Now, the Blue Envelope Program has officially been signed into Illinois law and will be available statewide at no cost through the Illinois Secretary of State's office beginning January 1, 2027.

The program is another step toward improving communication, increasing understanding, and creating safer interactions between law enforcement and individuals with autism.
