Below the spill-way at Mazelume dam, a dolorite d**e (intrusion) has been exposed by the rushing water and it is quite clear how the boulders are formed. I found this fascinating, as often it appears that the shape was caused by water erosion. In the photo above, one can see the hard spherical boulders with softer material around. Some of the rocks in the photo above are rather large! The outside material is fairly soft compared with the boulder
