Did you know you can generate electricity using biogas?
Biogas is produced through the anaerobic digestion of organic waste such as animal manure, food waste, or sewage. In a sealed digester, microorganisms break down this waste in the absence of oxygen, releasing a gas primarily composed of methane.
The process works as follows:
Waste Collection & Input
Organic waste is fed into a biogas digester.
Anaerobic Digestion
Bacteria decompose the waste, producing biogas.
Gas Collection & Storage
The biogas is captured and stored in a gas holder or storage unit.
Energy Conversion
The gas is directed to a biogas generator, where it is burned to power an engine connected to an alternator, producing electricity.
By-product Utilization
The remaining digestate can be used as a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer.
This process not only generates reliable energy but also provides an effective solution for waste management, environmental protection, and cost savings.
