CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - LIFE MUST GO ON

Residents, please note that SA now had more than 70 000 Covid-19 cases and 1 4 80 deaths.

Please keep in mind...
South Africa has an estimated population of 60 million people

So 6 million would be 10%
And 600 000 would be 1%
70 000 people are just a little bit more than 0,1%
Of the 0,1% people that have tested positive - only 2% have passed on.
That's about 0,00001% of the population of South Africa.

During a normal year we have 58 murders a day in SA, that means by now at least 9 628 would have been dead due to murder.

Never in the history of South Africa have we counted how many people die a day from
* murder
* car accidents
* hiv
* TB
* pneumonia
* etc.

Maybe we should have, maybe it would have just scared everyone??

SUMMARY OF PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS

* LEVEL 3 will be implemented from 1 JUNE

* The whole country will move to Level 3 on 1 June - a lot of the restrictions will be lifted.

* Differentiated approach to deal with areas called Coronavirus Hotspots
Metros - Tswane, Joburg, Cape Town, Buffalo City, Ehurhuleni & Ethekwini

Cape Winelands l, and a number of towns in the Western Cape are also seen as a Hotspot.

* Intensive interventions will be put in place in hotspots:
- infection control
- management
- coronavirus teams
- additional medical personnel and services
- quarantine facilities

* Alcohol sold for home consumption. Sold on special days, for limited hours, strictly regulated. (more announcements to follow)

* Sale of sigarettes still prohibited!!!
(NO To***co products at all)

* Curfew completely lifted.

* Exercise allowed all hours of the day.

* All restaurants, bars, pubs, shebeens and Tavers must stay closed, except for DELIVERIES AND COLLECTIONS of food.

* County borders will stay closed for people

* Gatherings of people, including church services, are still prohibited under Level 3.

* Funerals of only 50 people still stand.

* Half of all people that have tested positive for COVID-19 in SA have already recovered.

* There are now 429 deaths.

* The total number of active cases is just over 11 000

* The most effective defense against Covid-19 is washing hands, wearing a mask and not to touch your face.

* SA also in the race to find a vaccine for Corona

*Only 580 000 people have been tested for Covid-19 in SA to date.
