Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership, supervising practical training, producing high-quality products, and mentoring apprentices to develop professional skills in line with industry standards.
Responsibilities
• Deliver hands-on training and mentorship in carpentry to apprentices, trainees, and junior staff.
• Design, produce, and supervise the fabrication of wooden structures, furniture, and other assigned projects.
• Ensure all work is completed to the highest professional and safety standards.
• Oversee the maintenance, safe use, and proper storage of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of apprentices and provide constructive feedback and reports to management.
• Collaborate with project staff to align training with industry needs and labour market demands.
• Uphold health, safety, and environmental standards in all workshop and field activities.
Required Skills and Experience
• Recognized qualification in Carpentry, or related technical trade (craft certificate, diploma, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience in carpentry and welding, with evidence of high-quality workmanship.
• Certification or recognition as a Master Craftsman or equivalent (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and supervise apprentices or junior artisans.
• Strong knowledge of technical drawings, measurements, and fabrication techniques.
• Familiarity with workplace safety procedures and standards.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team and multicultural environment.
