THAW - Together Help Another Woman

THAW recently had the opportunity to attend a GBV Indaba hosted by the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe focused on unpacking the implementation of Zimbabwe’s High-Level Political Compact on Ending Gender-Based Violence.

The discussions highlighted progress made, ongoing challenges, and the urgent need for stronger action around women’s rights, digital violence, survivor support, financial empowerment, and accountability.

As THAW, we remain committed to learning, advocacy, and creating safe spaces that empower women and strengthen communities.

At our recent Kariba Self-Worth Outreach, important and honest conversations were shared by women about the realities they face daily. ❤️

Many spoke about financial dependence, the rising cost of living, emotional stress, depression, and the impact these challenges have on their confidence and sense of worth. Others highlighted how limited financial literacy and lack of income opportunities often leave women feeling trapped and unable to meet even their own personal needs.

But through these conversations came a powerful reminder: ❤️ also means believing in your ability to start — no matter how small. From selling small goods at home to creating sustainable income streams, women encouraged one another to take ownership of their growth and independence.

At THAW, we continue to create safe spaces where women can speak openly, heal, learn, and be reminded that their value is not defined by hardship or circumstance.
