Keeping lost phones can be a crime. The Criminal Law says taking lost property that belongs to someone else with the intention to keep it is theft. This can result in up to 10 years in prison or fines. The idea of “finders keepers” means if you find something you can keep it. In Zimbabwe, “finders keepers” do not apply to lost property like phones. Try to contact the owner through contacts or lock screen messages and report it to the police immediately
