According to the 2022 Census Report, household access to the internet refers to the ability of the household to connect to the public internet using TCP-IP protocols. Internet access at home is meant to include both mobile cellular and connected at home.
According to the report, Harare province had the highest number of households and the highest internet access rate, 54.4%. This was expected as it is the economic hub and houses the largest urban populace.
Mashonaland Central had the lowest internet access rate, with only 16.8% of the households having access.
The internet access rates for Bulawayo were below expectations, only 38.6% of households have access. One would have expected it to be close to that of Harare, given that it is the second-largest city in Zimbabwe.
Masvingo's internet access rate is noteworthy. It has the 5th largest number of households and has the 2nd largest internet access rate at 43%.
