When the ground is either weak, uneven or wet land that can not sustain the load of the structure, engineers will recommend special foundation.

Examples of Special Foundations

1). Raft (Mat) Foundation – A large reinforced concrete slab supporting the entire building.

2). Pile Foundation , Long concrete, steel, or timber piles driven or bored deep into the ground to reach strong soil or rock.

3). Pad Foundation with Ground Beams , Individual footings connected by reinforced concrete ground beams.

4). Pier Foundation , Reinforced concrete columns extending to firm ground.

5). Under-Reamed Foundation , Used in expansive clay soils that swell and shrink.

We have build in poor weak soils and wet land where we often build special founds.
