Took a tree removal job for a client who swore payment would be squared away before I finished. Halfway through cutting it down I checked my phone, still no transfer, still excuses. I’m not running a charity landscaping service, so I stopped the second I realized he thought he was getting full work on partial payment.
So yeah, I left the tree exactly how it was. Trunk carved down, looking dramatic, basically one strong wind away from being his problem instead of mine. If you want professional results, you pay professionally. I don’t do “trust me bro” invoices.
He started blowing up my phone saying it looks dangerous, neighbors complaining, all that. Funny how urgency suddenly exists when his yard looks ridiculous. Should’ve had that same urgency when it was time to pay what we agreed on.
Money hits my account, tree comes down. Until then, that’s his new lawn decoration. Simple business math.
