Following the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Economies around the world have boycotted or placed sanctions on Russian oil & gas producers, reducing global supply. This combined with the dissolving of the fuel stabilization fund, the Energy Regulation Board Has announced an increase of 20.7%, 21.7% and 25.5% on petrol, diesel and kerosene products respectively effective 1st April. This price movement has the potential to disrupt the recovery of the local economy. This price change was inevitable, following the progression of various macroeconomic factors over the last 3 months. InvestEcon through our trading and advisory platforms worked closely with our clients to create derivative and other risk hedging instruments for our clients. Our forecasts project an acceleration of inflation in the 2nd quarter and shrinkflation on some consumer goods.
