International Women’s Day 2026

Today we celebrate women. But we must also confront a painful reality.

Globally, 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, and over 370 million girls have experienced r**e or sexual assault before the age of 18.

Behind these numbers are girls whose childhoods were stolen, women carrying trauma, and communities that must do more.

R**e and defilement are not just crimes they are a public health, human rights, and mental health crisis.

At LIA Foundation, we believe protecting women and girls requires awareness, education, strong systems, and collective action.

Today we are hosting a Virtual Talk on “Medical Response to R**e & Defilement” in partnership with Uplifting Women to raise awareness and strengthen the response to sexual violence.
