CHINGOLA DC CALLS ON PERSONS LIVING WITH DISABILITIES TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE ELECTORAL PROCESS.

Chingola District Commissioner Howard Kamwandi has called on persons living with disabilities to actively participate in the electoral process, stating that inclusive participation is essential in strengthening democracy.

Speaking in an interview with YAR FM, Mr. Kamwandi, said every citizen has a constitutional right to take part in governance processes regardless of physical ability.
He emphasized the need for persons with disabilities, to register as voters and candidates as leadership in matters affecting their communities remains key.

Mr. Kamwandi, noted that increased participation of persons with disabilities in elections, will help amplify their voices and ensure that their concerns are adequately represented in decision-making structures.

He further urged stakeholders including political parties, civil society organizations and the Electoral Commission, to create a conducive environment that promotes accessibility and equal participation during elections.

Mr. Kamwandi, has since Reaffirmed governments commitment to promoting inclusivity and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups through various empowerment initiatives.
