In our continued efforts to support education over our 70 year legacy, we made a meaningful visit to Wesley Nyirenda School last week where we officially handed over our adopted project the rehabilitation of a classroom block. Along with this achievement, our chairman and the team further donated a variety of assorted items as part of our on going support to Wesley Nyirenda.

Recognizing that the learning environment greatly influences productivity, student motivation and learning outcomes, our focus remains on continually contributing towards improving learning spaces to foster productivity and motivate both learners and educators alike.

Our commitment does not end here. We are dedicated to adding ongoing value to our community by expanding our initiatives and making a larger impact.

As we draw to a close of Men’s Mental Health Month, we shine a light on the quiet strength found in openness and support.

Men’s Mental Health Month is a time to recognize strength in vulnerability.

Chileshe Mulenga, current Kitwe Round Table No. 2 Projects Convener, shares when asked who has supported him during difficult times, “It is impossible to think of a strong support system without mentioning my wife. She has supported my mental well-being the most. My family, of course, and my Round Table brothers, notably Kapambwe, Scotch, Cornelius, Francesco, and Kampamba (current Round Table Zambia President), made a huge difference during one of my most difficult experiences and moment of loss.”

To him, mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables you to cope with the stresses of life, realize your abilities, learn and work well, and contribute to your community.

In Zambia, one in five adults faces mental health challenges and struggles silently, underscoring the need for greater awareness and support. (Source: “Strengthening mental health systems in Zambia,” published in the International Journal of Mental Health Systems on April 16, 2020.)

Chileshe emphasizes that communities play a vital role in helping men open up about their mental health. “Creating spaces for shared activities like sports, workshops, or social events fosters trust and connection, making it easier for men to share their thoughts and feelings without pressure.”

His approach to staying mentally strong includes staying active, whether through basketball, long drives, or surrounding himself with positive, supportive family and friends. It works for him.

And as we reflect on Men’s Mental Health Month, let us remember that mental well-being is not just an individual journey but a collective responsibility. Our efforts to create a more supportive community do not end here. It is an everyday practice. By fostering supportive environments and open conversations, we can break the stigma and empower men across Zambia to seek help and thrive. That is the community we believe in at Kitwe Round Table No. 2.

To everyone who supports men’s mental health, you are making a difference. Thank you.

THROWBACK THURSDAY CELEBRATING A TRUE TABLER: CHIBANDA KABWE

In the Round Table International tradition, when a Tabler clocks 41 years, he transitions into the 41 Club, a continuation of service, friendship and brotherhood. Today, we honor one of our very own, Chibanda Kabwe, who now serves as an honorary member of Kitwe Round Table No. 2.

Chibanda joined Kitwe No. 2 in 2015, first as a guest invited by Past Round Table Zambia President Nathan Kazembe, who is now a proud 41ner. That invitation was the beginning of a remarkable tabling journey.

Over the years, Chibanda Kabwe served with heart and unwavering commitment. His leadership was felt across various levels of the association.

He served as Table Chairman in 2018
He was Area Chairman in 2019
He held the role of National Treasurer for two consecutive years.

He was not just a leader in title but in action. A selfless giver, always stepping up in times of need, often funding projects personally to revive causes that were close to collapse. His contributions went far beyond finances. He was a mentor, a friend, and a true brother in service.

Well-travelled both locally and internationally, Chibanda carried the spirit of Round Table with pride, representing our Table and our country with excellence. Through his experience and calm leadership, he became a shoulder to lean on, guiding Tablers and guests alike with wisdom and humility.

As we continue to build the legacy of Kitwe Round Table No. 2, we celebrate the example Chibanda has set for us. His tabling years may have officially ended, but his impact will remain for generations to come.

Once a Tabler, always a Tabler.

ROUND ZAMBIA AREA 1 JOINT INDUCTION DINNER

This past Saturday, we gathered for the unforgettable Round Zambia Area 1 Joint Induction Dinner held in Chingola. The evening was filled with fellowship, celebration, and a true display of the Round Table spirit.

We proudly witnessed the induction of Mutale Kaela as the new Kitwe Round Table No.2 Chairman, taking over from Chibwe Chibwe. Mutale, a dedicated tabler since 2018, has shown unwavering commitment to the Table’s values of service, fellowship, and leadership. We celebrate this great milestone and look forward to his leadership in driving the Table forward.

The event was graced by 41ers Club President Mr. Moffat Nyirenda, who honored us with his presence alongside other esteemed 41ers including GS Telebwe who came to show their support and share in the festivities. We were also honored to host Kitwe Ladies Circle No.3 Chairlady Agatha Muimui and her delegation, as well as members of Ladies Circle Chingola (in formation), whose presence added to the spirit of unity and fellowship.

Here’s to new beginnings, stronger bonds, and continued service to our community.
