I Will Serve
One to ten, that's how many toes keep me balanced
My ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists
All work jointly to manoeuvre my body around be it in motion or a specific position
Where is she going with this?
Alright, the poem starts now, We will serve
If my soles and heels are listening
I want you to stand where he sees feet to stand
Stand up for Jesus, stand before others
Stand against temptation, stand firm in your faith
To my legs, I want you to take me where I am too afraid to go
From the densest forest where Jesus' name has never been uttered
To the highest building where His name is constantly silenced
And my knees, I beg of you
Bend out of respect for our elders
Bend to aid my legs in their mission
Bend in reverence when speaking to our Father
Now, ahead of me, I choose to follow the straight narrow path
Only my back would recognise what once stood as Babylon
Only my back should be acquainted with the view of Gomorrah
And my spine would warn my neck to stay in place
Don't be curious about that pile of white sand
That glistens in the sun
That seems to whisper softly in the air
Words of torment that my ears swiftly ignore
They're waiting to hear the melodic tunes...
A song of triumph trumpeted with angelic talent
And my mouth will declare that God is good
That Jesus is the son of God
But before then, my eyes will keep watch
Staring steadfastly at what will be
And with the Holy Spirit's guidance
Every part of me shall minister of His Majesty
I will serve that He should save
