The Bemba Royal Establishment has announced with deep sorrow the passing of His Royal Highness Imfumu Tungati of the Isansa Bemba Kingdom in Luwingu District, Northern Province.

According to the Royal Establishment, the mortal remains of His Royal Highness are expected to arrive at Kasama Airport from Lusaka on Sunday, 14th June 2026, before being transported to Tungati in Luwingu District.

The Royal Establishment further explained that, in recent years, the Tungati throne was changed from being occupied by a son of Mwamba to a son of Shimumbi. As a result, His Royal Highness will not be laid to rest at Milenge Royal Grave in Kasama. Instead, a new royal burial site will be established within the Isansa and Lubumbu areas.

Burial is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, 16th June 2026.
The Bemba Royal Establishment has extended its condolences to the bereaved royal family, subjects of the Isansa Bemba Kingdom, and all those affected by the loss.
