Harri Pieters, has been in the auditing, accounting, and tax industry for the past 16 years. After simultaneously completing his B.Compt degree with the University of South Africa and his CA(SA) articles with a medium sized accounting firm, he decided to set up shop, and opened his own accounting practice in Three Rivers, which is located in the Vaal Triangle area of Gauteng. So, Harri Pieters and
Associates was born. The firm (initially called HRI Group), has in the meantime, grown considerably, and has survived many challenges an industry changes over the years. Harri, however, enjoys the challenges that come along with assisting his clients and helping them achieve their business goals - all whilst still attempting to keep everyone in line with the framework of the South African legislation. This is not always an easy task, as company directors differ in experience, historic background, and personality and each has its own set of ideas of how business is done. This also, on the plus side, is what makes being an accountant worthwhile for him. Harri Pieters (and/or his companies) are currently registered with the Southern African Institute of Business Accountants as an Independent Reviewer – BAPIR(SA) and Accounting Officer – BAP(SA) under the Companies Act 71, 2008 and Close Corporations Act 69, 1984 respectively. He is also a member of the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners and holds the GTP(SA) designation, qualifying him to assist and advise clients on tax matters, submit tax returns and registrations, and facilitate tax objections. Other professional bodies he is registered with, includes the South African Payroll Association, the Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners, the Estate Agency Affairs Board, and the National Association of Managing Agents. Harri also enjoys his involvement in academics, and is qualified as a lecturer/facilitator, assessor, and moderator. He is currently involved as lecturer for the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and Accountants (ICBA) modules with a private college. Through partnerships with various government service providers, he is also involved with the facilitation of skills courses in the fields of accounting, taxation, payroll and compliance to management and accounting department employees of various government and large corporate entities alike. Always up for new adventures and challenges, Harri has over the years, for personal growth measures, obtained qualifications in the fields of property management, Labour Law, information technology, counselling, theology, and electronics. He also has a keen interest in the property market, and Harri Pieters and Associates acquired the Body Corporate Management leg of 3Rivers Management Services during 2014, forming Monopoly Holdings. He is furthermore also involved as trustee and chairman of various Non-Profit Organisations, and acts as Trustee on a few Body Corporates. Harri’s current focus is on the improvement of the quality and excellence of existing service offerings to clients, implementation of new and improved systems of convenience (including paperless solutions) both internally and externally to both staff and clients alike.
