ANNOUNCEMENT

Having competed in the second round of the Extreme Super Car Championship at Kyalami this past weekend, many fans and friends have reached out to ask what transpired after reviewing the race results.

I’d like to take this opportunity to clarify and explain.

I remain fully committed to the principles of competitive and fair racing — grounded in transparent, consistent sporting and technical regulations.

Unfortunately, the current state of the Balance of Performance (BoP) regulations, which are intended to ensure parity within the GT3 class, has become increasingly unstable, unpredictable, and illogical.

The BoP process has devolved into an “experimental,” “unilateral,” and “dictatorial” system — applied and enforced without consistency, transparency, or sporting integrity.

The team and I have raised our concerns with those responsible for the BoP process on more than one occasion, but unfortunately, they seem totally unwilling to engage, discuss, or work towards a solution that serves the best interests of the class or the series.

At this past weekend’s event at Kyalami, we were forced to race with a BoP weight 80 kg heavier in Race 1 and 95 kg heavier in Race 2 than our fellow GT3 competitors — in addition to existing restrictions on engine power and straight-line speed.

For Race 2, after careful consultation with our race team, we made the decision not to comply with the enforced BoP weight due to serious safety and reliability concerns. As anticipated, we were disqualified from the race results.

Following detailed discussions with our long-standing sponsor and race team, we have collectively concluded that, under the current direction and management of the BoP process, there is little prospect for meaningful improvement or a return to fair, competitive racing within this class. As such, I will no longer be competing in this series for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Let me be clear: this is not about avoiding competition, nor is there any intent to be acrimonious. But like any sport, motorsport must be governed by clear, consistent, and fair rules — where the focus is on playing the ball, not the man.

We sincerely hope those responsible for managing the GT3 class will refocus their efforts on developing it into the premier sprint racing category in South Africa — as it deserves to be. In its current state, it risks alienating the very future of the sport: the next generation of drivers.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and to Stradale Motorsport for their unwavering support. We look forward to sharing our future GT3 race plans for the remainder of the 2025 season soon.
