Our shared value in 2013 to 2021, Early on in our existence, we recognised the importance of creating superior shared value for all stakeholders. This philosophy was captured in our Umdoni tree which symbolises our business ethos and approach.

- In 2013, we employed just over 36,000 people including contractors in South Africa. In 2021, that number had increased to about 85,000 worldwide. Salaries and benefits paid to employees of R6 billion in 2013, increased fourfold to over R26 billion in 2021.

- In addition to these salaries and benefits, approximately R1.4 billion has been paid over the last two years to around 46,000 employee beneficiaries in the form of dividends and other employee share option scheme payments.

- In addition to the significant capital growth of the business, from a R10 billion market capitalisation on listing to over R120 billion today, we have also distributed close to R40 billion in additional value to investors in the form of dividends and share buybacks, four times more than our initial listing market capitalisation.
