Hi everyone! Happy 2015 to you! I know it's been a while since I posted but despite the relative quite of last year the new year got off to a great start. 2015 kicked off with mixing Katlego Kay's new single and it once again taught me that if the source is good, the song mixes itself.

Some observations...

I used very little processing. The tracks sounded good on their own for the most part. I used my go-to EQ and dynamics plugins very sparingly to iron out various tonal and dynamic inconsistencies. I would say there were less than 20 plugins in the entire project of about 60+ tracks. I started just balancing what was there, almost entirely in mono except for a few stereo tracks that were obviously placed by the producer specifically. The producer did a great job in placing sounds in the mid and stereo fields and I didn't have to do much besides minor tweaking. This proved to me 90% of mixing is level balance. Add a few sweetener plugins here and there with a bit of automation and the mix is done.\

All the best for 2015 to you all!
