X-Reality Lab
With the scarcity of work-based experiential learning opportunities, the need for alternative ways of training learners is in demand now more than ever. One post-graduate student proposed the use of Virtual Reality for training on the operation of the Reconfigurable Guillotine Shear and Bending Press Machine (RGS&BPM), which is a machine that cuts and bends sheet metals. The student worked with a team of VR Developers from X-Reality Lab to build this VR-based RGS&BPM system and Tshwane University of Technology Industrial Engineering students were trained on how to use the machine in a risk-free environment, this has also helped in reducing physical training time and costs.
