A Friday afternoon well spent by our amazing riggers…They used 3 and 5 ton Turfors to drag this cement slab river-crossing back into position down in the Baakens River Valley. Crawlers facing upwards and wooden ‘rails’ played their part too. This slab was shifted more than 7 metres by the floods in early May. We are always happy to lend a hand to FatTracks MTB Club and The Baakens Valley Trust 😊👍

The importance of fully functional Waste Water Treatment Works cannot be overemphasised. Our Municipal Division specialises in all freshwater and sewerage applications. They’ve just completed the upgrade to a floating aerator, its gearbox and paddle, at a WWTW here in Nelson Mandela Bay. Our crane truck JFK and its Palfinger knuckle-boom crane, from our heavy machine moving and rigging sister company NF Hire, proved a willing ally 😊

Welcome to FASSI Friday. Its been a busy week for our UD Quester crane-truck Bandit the Badger and its FASSI F820 knuckle boom crane. Bandit and its amazing crew have rigged out everything from air handling units to machine presses and overhead gantries across Nelson Mandela Bay. The FASSI F820 has a heavy-lift capacity of 21-tons and can lift 2.7 tons at 20 metres - so there really is no job too big or too small for Bandit the Badger 🙂

We enjoyed a very special day showcasing our wide range of services at Sundale Dairy in East London. It was their annual Farmers Day info session. Always good to connect with so many of the dairy farmers in the area who work with our Agri division, as well as Sundale Dairy CEO Pierre van Rensburg. 🙂❤️

The N2 in-bound into Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha had to be briefly closed near the Salt Pans on Saturday morning to allow for the transhipment of a 29-ton container from a broken-down trailer to a new one. Time was of the essence as scores of rugby fans were making their way into the city at the time for the Springboks vs Barbarians game that afternoon. We procured a mobile crane from Concord Cranes and along with two of our NF Hire riggers, and a team from I-TAC Towing and Recovery, had the road open again in double-quick time. 😊

A day in the life of Northfield Engineering’s Fabrication workshop… Bollards complete and ready for shipping, walkways complete, busy with weigh bridge no 2, feeders and boom scrapers. Our Fabrication department has both a Stainless Steel and a Mild Steel section and provides a critical service to Northfield Engineering’s Municipal, Agri and Industry divisions. We also service the Pharmaceutical Industry and fabricate pipe runs in all sizes from 10 mm to 2000 mm Nominal Bore. 😊

Our 800-ton hydraulic gantry system is the largest of its kind in the Eastern Cape and is operated through our sister company NF Hire and Contracting (Pty) Ltd. This transformer weighed in at a solid 209-tons and needed to be lifted onto an abnormal-load transporter in the Coega IDZ. The gantry system can be used in either a two-post or a four-post configuration. In this instance, the four-post set-up ensured that the transformer was safely and efficiently lifted into position.
