The ground-scraper thrush (Turdus litsitsirupa) is a passerine bird of southern and eastern Africa belonging to the thrush family. Whilst he admits this is not the most jaw dropping image, Harvey has used a very unique lens to capture the image, a Catadioptric 500mm f/6.3 Mirror Lens. This image was shot with a 2009 Vivitar DX Series 1, 500mm f/6.3 fixed aperture Mirror Lens, Manual Focus on a Nikon D800. A cheap way to get reach, but needs a fair amount of patience and sunlight is helpful. The colours are calibrated and accurate if you have an IPS monitor.
