Breakthrough Solutions recently coordinated a time-sensitive airfreight export from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Conakry, Guinea, supporting critical mining operations in the region.

The shipment consisted of specialised mining components and high-value operational equipment required to support ongoing activities at a remote mining site. With operational continuity dependent on the timely arrival of these items, careful planning and coordination were essential throughout the logistics process.

🚛 PROJECT HIGHLIGHT | Large-Scale GSE Removal & Storage Coordination

Efficient logistics isn’t only about delivering equipment — sometimes it’s about safely removing, repositioning, and storing critical assets under challenging operational conditions.

📦 Cargo: 16 Ground Support Equipment (GSE) units
⚖️ Total Weight Moved: 251 Tons

This project involved the coordinated removal and relocation of multiple GSE units ranging from 4-ton support equipment to a massive 65-ton non-running tug.

⚙️ The Challenge
One of the project’s biggest obstacles was repositioning a non-operational 65-ton tug into a location accessible for crane lifting operations. Additional planning was required to safely organise and store multiple non-running units neatly within the warehouse facility while maintaining operational efficiency throughout the project.

A combination of specialised lifting and transport strategies was deployed, including:
✔ Crane trucks for lifting and dual-lift operations
✔ Overhead crane support for heavy equipment handling
✔ A diverse fleet of transport vehicles matched to each unit’s requirements
✔ Careful staging and warehouse planning for efficient grounding and storage
