The PHASA Foundation continues to strengthen collaboration between conservation stakeholders and private landowners in support of leopard research and conservation efforts in KwaZulu-Natal.
Jess de Klerk and Ilse Joubert recently engaged with KZN landowners during a productive stakeholder meeting focused on the deployment of leopard research initiatives. The discussion highlighted the importance of landowner participation in data collection, monitoring, and long-term conservation planning for this iconic species.

Constructive dialogue and shared insights from attendees reinforced the value of partnerships in ensuring sustainable conservation outcomes across both protected and privately managed landscapes.

The PHASA Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Mark Dedekind for facilitating this important engagement and for his continued support in advancing collaborative conservation efforts.

Wildlife snaring remains one of the most serious threats to South Africa’s wildlife, and meaningful progress depends on collaboration, practical solutions and coordinated action.

SNAG, the South African National Snares Action Group, is a national platform that connects stakeholders from across sectors, including conservation NGOs, government bodies, researchers, legal experts and communities, to share knowledge, build partnerships and take action to mitigate and prevent wildlife snaring.

The PHASA Foundation is proud to be a member of SNAG since October 2025, and we are excited about the important projects already underway.

We look forward to being part of this collective effort and contributing to stronger, practical conservation action on the ground.

We are proud to stand alongside the broader SNAG network in working towards a future where wildlife is better protected through knowledge, partnerships and action.
