Midlands Safety Initiative

Youth Day is a reminder that young people have always played an important role in shaping South Africa's future.
Today, we celebrate the energy, courage, and potential of the next generation. We also recognise the responsibility we all share in creating safe communities where young people can learn, grow, and thrive.
Whether it's on our roads, in our schools, online, or in our neighbourhoods, safety creates opportunities. When young people feel secure and supported, they can focus on building brighter futures for themselves and those around them.
This Youth Day, let's continue working together to create communities where every young person feels valued, protected, and empowered.
Happy Youth Day, South Africa.

Cold weather can be especially difficult for elderly neighbours, vulnerable families, and those living alone.
A simple check-in, helping someone with supplies, or making sure they’re safe during bad weather can make a real difference.
Community safety is not only about crime prevention, it’s also about care, connection and looking out for each other.
Strong winds, storms, and heavy rain can quickly turn roads dangerous in the Midlands. Fallen trees, broken branches, and debris often create unexpected hazards for motorists and pedestrians.
Drive carefully during adverse weather, avoid parking under large trees where possible, and report dangerous obstructions to the relevant authorities. If a road looks unsafe or flooded, rather turn around than take the risk.
A little extra caution during storms can prevent serious accidents.

Mi7 Reaction Officers Find and Reunite Stolen Puppy with Owners, Two Suspects Arrested
Date: 27 May 2026
A relieved Glenwood family was reunited with their stolen puppy this morning after quick action by Mi7 Armed Response officers led to the animal being safely recovered and two suspects being arrested.
Mi7 Control Room operators received an urgent request for assistance from an Armed Response client on Les Van Wyk Road after the family discovered that their puppy had allegedly been stolen from the property the previous day. The client suspected that a staff member may have been involved and had already reported the matter to local police.
After arriving at the property and conducting investigations, officers established that the suspect had allegedly stolen the puppy from the premises after being refused a request to borrow money from the client.
During further investigations, officers identified the premises of a second individual who had allegedly purchased the stolen puppy. Reaction officers proceeded to the location, where the puppy was successfully recovered safe and unharmed.
Both suspects were handed over to police for further investigation.
For the family, the most important outcome was the safe return of their puppy, who was reunited with its owners shortly afterwards.
