Looking into our shadows…..
We all have that side of ourselves, the parts of our personalities or specific life experiences that we either want to avoid or don’t want others to see.
Maybe we’re afraid of how it makes us feel or could be difficult to accept that what we see is actually apart of us.
All of this explains our “shadow,” coined and studied by the influential psychiatrist Carl Jung.
It was his belief and theory that the more we repress and ignore our shadow, the more power and influence it has over us. For those in addiction, they have pushed away from their inner shadow for years or decades when their suppressed shadow may be the hidden place of causality in certain behaviours.
What Can Shadow Work Teach Us In Addiction Recovery?
Shadow work helps us confront the parts of ourselves we have been hiding from and avoiding, which may be causative factors in unwanted behaviours. Shadow work can help us accept and give compassion to our addicted selves, so we don’t feel shame!

Ending the weekend with a sunset meditation, and allowing silence to guide our recovery.
Why Meditation? :
Improved inner peace – Meditation enhances the ability to find harmony within yourself and let go of difficult and painful feelings.
Stress reduction – Unmanaged stress is one of the biggest contributors to relapse.
Emotional well-being – Being able to feel positive emotions without the use of alcohol or other drugs helps to sustain long-term recovery.
Fatigue management – Being overly tired is one of the risk factors that is often correlated with relapse.
