Did You Know?
The historic Montagu Pass has been connecting George with the Klein Karoo since 1847. Built under the direction of renowned engineer Henry Fancourt White, much of the pass was carved by hand through the Outeniqua Mountains.
Today, many of the original stone walls and bridges still stand, making it one of South Africa's best-preserved historic mountain passes.
While restoration work continues to preserve this national treasure for future generations, the breathtaking views over George remain as spectacular as ever.
Take a moment to slow down, soak in the scenery, and appreciate the rich history that winds through every bend.
