Some photographs are found by getting closer.
Others only reveal themselves when you step away.
For this image of Spitzkoppe, Namibia, I drove several kilometres from the mountain before setting out on foot across the desert in search of a single camel thorn tree. The landscape is sparse, scattered with rock and scrub, and finding the right tree took time.
When I finally stood beneath its branches, everything came together. The tree sat perfectly within the natural curve of the mountain range, creating a composition that had existed for thousands of years, waiting for the right light.
Finished in a subtle Van D**e tone, this is one of my most personal landscape photographs, celebrating the quiet beauty of Namibia rather than its drama.

Over more than two decades photographing the wild places of Southern and East Africa, very few images have earned a place as a limited edition.
Each one I do release carries a number chosen for a reason, tied to a milestone in my life and work rather than a fixed formula. Fever Tree Leopard and Young Tusker were each released in editions of eleven. My newest work, Neo | The Stare, is limited to seven.
Every print is hand-signed, individually numbered, and produced on museum-grade archival paper. Once an edition sells out, it is permanently closed.
