Tongaat Hulett Covid-19 Communication Site

On Wednesday, 25 March Tongaat Hulett launched their redesigned and upgraded SharePoint Intranet, The Connector to their users. A last minute request from their External Communications Officer, Virginia Horsley, was for a Covid-19 Communication Site to ensure that all staff had access to the latest news and information on this worldwide pandemic. The Covid-19 site was developed and implemented within a day, and was ready in time for the Intranet launch.

The Site includes links to vital communications from the CEO’s office, useful links to the World Health Organization website, a live Coronavirus statistics tracker, Covid-19 accurate and credible facts as well as Frequently Asked Questions from the NICD SA (National Institute for Communicable Diseases, South Africa) site.

A number of posters from various credible sources including when to wash your hands, social distancing guidelines, how to practice food safety and how to protect others from getting sick have been made available on the site.

Tongaat Hulett have devised and implemented policies and procedures crucial to their organisation. For easy reference, these controlled documents are all available on the site.

Informative videos explaining how to protect yourself against Covid-19, how to protect yourself while travelling and a Q&A session are provided on the site. A News24 live feed and the latest NICD_SA Twitter feed ensures that the Tongaat Hulett team have access to the latest news.

The site is constantly updated to ensure that all Tongaat Hulett employees have all the information they need to keep themselves and others protected whilst continuing to provide essential products and services to our Country.
