We have just completed one of our most challenging shows.
The Simon Sabela KZN Film & TV awards.
From set building which included a motorised central revolve revealing the presenters as it turned, bespoke LED screens, live band housed behind the set with a 14 piece choir, dancers, DJ’s and many presenters and soloists. A massive lighting rig to enhance all aspects of the show for live broadcast to creating the mood for the Gala dinner post the formalities.
Before entering the venue we built a red carpet affair in the foyer which needed to present a theme of walking on the whalebone pier, a well known feature of Durban’s Umhalga beachfront.
I have to take a bow to the incredible Hirezone team and army of freelances that worked long hours to get it ready in time for rehearsals.
The real kicker was being told at the last minute the venue was needed for a special council meeting the next morning, so the poor crew had to load it all out by 8am the next day🤦🏻‍♂️.
We learn more each day, we grow, we create new goals for ourselves. Anything is possible!
