On this day in 1940, the Battle of Britain began.
Over the months that followed, RAF pilots and aircrew stood on the frontline of Britain’s defence, facing overwhelming pressure in the skies above our country.
Their courage, skill and sacrifice helped change the course of the Second World War and secured their place in history as “The Few.”
Today, we remember all those who served during the Battle of Britain — in the air, on the ground, and across the wider war effort.
Their bravery will never be forgotten.
