Most everything I write is meant for someone: me.
I wrote this a little over 3 years ago as a reminder to simplify the things I expect of myself. Even as I write this the frustration is gripping me because it feels like it’s not flowing as naturally as I’d like, agh!

The good times don’t last forever, but neither does the bad. And right now for many of us it feels like the bad is lasting a loooooong while. The ability to have compassion, empathy, concern for others is a great gift. Answer the invention of instant news, social media and the internet, it’s been turned against us.

If you feel drained, numb, hopeless, that’s completely natural to an abnormal process of a very normal human condition. Your humanity is a beautiful thing and not to be nerfed or desensitised.

But you can do, be, see, speak and feel good things even among all the horror. A kind message, a nice act, so much of these little things we can do are cheap, mostly free, that help to rebuild the community of kindness.

Don’t fret. Whatever journey you’re on, you’re still on it. Straying from the path, becoming lost a little, all of this is normal. Don’t let the world distract you from your humanity, it is your greatest gift. You can’t fix all the world’s problems right now, and even less if you’re so focused on consuming it all. Create more than you consume. The world needs an abundance of kindness. We can be that.

Love warmth and blessing to all of you.
Venture Onward.

"When a lesson keeps looping, it’s because a part of you is being asked to grow into the capacity to integrate it.

If you dare to look closely at certain corners in your present reality, without flinching or running away, Life may already be inviting you to learn what you truly need before moving on.

Life’s invitation to learn, of course, doesn’t show up inside a romantically written letter, delivered by homing pigeon at your window, sealed in wax. Far from it.

It happens through friction in your relationships. In those frustrating, vicious cycles you can’t seem to overcome. You may not want to look at the lesson, but it's there: in those corners where self-doubt echoes the loudest.

And the lesson, I can almost guarantee it, is not something that's already written “out there” in a book, a YouTube video, or in the slop that a soul-less AI agent can regurgitate for you (no matter how much you prompt it to be brutally honest).

What I’ve learned through my own path is that Life is a university for the soul—for which we don't get handed the syllabus. Quite often, the best lessons worth integrating are the ones learnt through painful repetition: through hitting the same walls and patterns that keep resurfacing in different forms.

It’s in the questions that keep showing up again and again… until they are no longer avoided with fear but finally met with curiosity."

—Jovanny Varela, excerpt from Gentle Reminder No 122: "Sometimes you're not meant to be taught what you're here to learn: What happens when the 'right path' doesn't exist for you?"

This is from a vulnerably honest piece I recently wrote about vicious cycles. They're frustrating but hold so much insight. If life has been presenting you with the same annoying pattern, I wrote this one for you. There's a way to break free🫂❤️

When you break a decade's long pattern, you collapse timelines.
