The lyrics are raw and honest, but never drawn to the forefront of the listening experience so as to give the listeners a chance to create their own meanings and understanding of the songs. Over the following 2 years, members of the band went through severe personal difficulties, which served as inspiration for their first full length album 'Echoes & Pulses', released through Permanent Record in 2019. This album presents a darker, moodier atmosphere than their EPs and has a more dense sound, in part due to the band having become a 5 piece in between, with multi-instrumentalist Paul De Villiers becoming a full member. In early 2020, Dangerfields joined booking agency and record label The Good Times Co with the intention of planning their first European tour for later that year, but within a few weeks these plans had to be put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Across the following 18 months, the band focused on working on new material, at times remotely sending demo's back and forth between members when they could not meet up in person due to lockdown regulations. In between, they played 2 successful streaming concerts, one in partnership with DPK as part of their Stoorsessions series, and the other at the Daisy Jones Bar, for which they were able to secure funding from international artist support organisation ConcertsSA. Following their return to the live performance circuit in late 2021, the band released their third EP in 2022, titled Harder, which featured 5 songs written & recorded during the pandemic period, with recording sessions having taken place in lead singer Lucas Swart’s family home in Stellenbosch under the constraints of lockdown. The band members are stalwarts in the South African music scene, having performed at all of the local venues and festivals over the course of their careers, including Oppikoppi, Rocking The Daisies, Endless Daze, Ramfest, Up The Creek, Splashy Fen and more.
