Behaviour is rarely just about the behaviour.🐾

When Sunshine first started training with me, our goals were to improve her recall, work through her prey drive, and make walks more enjoyable by reducing lead pulling.

As we've spent more time together, it's become clear that there's more to the picture. Sunshine is a rescue, and she's also currently on an allergy trial. Together, her owner and I have noticed changes in her behaviour, and while her allergies may be contributing, I believe it's a combination of factors, including her confidence.

Dogs communicate so much through their behaviour, it's our job to listen and understand. Sometimes what looks like a "training problem" is actually a sign that a dog needs a little more support, understanding, and confidence building.

That's exactly what we're focusing on.🩵

Watching Sunshine grow in confidence, make positive choices, and enjoy learning is so rewarding, and I'm looking forward to seeing how she continues to progress.

Every dog is an individual, and that's why there's never a one size fits all approach to training.

Say hello to Thando🐾

This handsome boy was recently adopted by his lovely mom and dad. We're working on building his confidence and engagement in his new home.

One of my favourite ways to do this is through play. Play is low pressure, interactive and makes learning fun and rewarding. For sensitive dogs it is especially helpful in helping them change their perception of the world.

Not only does it help build confidence but it also releases stress through movement and the release of "happy chemicals"! 🩵🦦

🐾 A little glimpse into a recent pet sit

One of my favourite parts of pet sitting is getting to know each dog's individual routine and personality.

From getting excited for walks to enjoying company, enrichment and plenty of attention throughout the day, my goal is always to make sure they feel comfortable, understood and cared for while their family is away.

This lovely girl certainly made me smile🩵

Pet sitting isn't just about supervision, it's about maintaining routines, supporting wellbeing and helping pets feel safe and secure in their own environment.

A moment I'm really proud of from Jax's most recent session.

He noticed another dog, stayed regulated and responded to his cue.

What I love most is what happened next. After checking things out, he chose on his own to move away and continue the walk.

Those voluntary choices are incredibly valuable. We're not trying to convince him that other dogs don't exist, we're helping him learn that he has options, and that he can make good choices even when another dog is present.

Small moment. Big win.🐾🩵

It’s been so lovely watching Poppy grow and gain confidence over the past few weeks 💙

Together with her owner, we’ve been focusing on basic life skills, positive social experiences and helping her navigate the world in a way that feels safe and fun.

Watching her happily play, explore and socialise at 21 weeks makes me so proud of how far she’s come 🐾🐶

A letter to a very special boy.

A smile from ear to ear. A happy greeting at the door. A gentle nudge of the nose. Yours was a life of joy. Yours was a life of trust. Yours was a life of endless, unconditional love.

What a privilege it was to have walked alongside you, every step of the way. What anguish it was to watch your eyes gently close for the last time.

This is not goodbye. It’s see you later.🩵

Progress, not perfection✨ We're still working on reducing the distance Jax needs to disengage from other dogs but look how far he's come 🐾 He is doing so well!
