Designing within an historical building requires a different kind of sensitivity.

For the E.W. Sedgwick & Co offices, the intention was never to overwrite the building’s history but to work with it.

Original architectural character was carefully preserved, allowing the story of the building to remain visible within the new workspace. Contemporary interventions were introduced with restraint, sympathetically enhancing the heritage by means of modern functionality.

The result is a workplace that respects its past while supporting the needs of a contemporary business.

“Sometimes the most thoughtful design decision is knowing what should remain unchanged.” - Grant Johnson

Every project begins with understanding the client’s world.

For Globeleq, our design process was informed by the company’s role in the transition of energy - translating themes of flow, movement and adaptability into spatial form.

From early concepts through to ex*****on, the focus was on creating a workplace that supports collaboration, focus and flexibility, while expressing the organisation’s purpose through architecture and detail.

This is where design moves beyond aesthetics and becomes strategy.
