Can This River Be Saved? | Soet River Educational Series Ep. 2

Welcome to Episode 2 of the Soet River Educational Series.

Just a few months ago, this section of the Soet River was stagnant after years of pollution and blocked water flow. Today, thanks to months of restoration work and collaboration between multiple organisations, the river is beginning to recover.

In this episode, we explore how restoration is improving water flow, why reeds are essential to healthy rivers, and why education is the real long-term solution to protecting our waterways.

The Soet River's recovery shows what's possible when communities, organisations and local government work together.

False Bay: The River to Ocean Crisis You Didn’t Know About

The Soet River flows through our communities and into the ocean of False Bay β€” but years of pollution, illegal dumping, and environmental neglect have destroyed this ecosystem

In this project, Making a Change joins hands with the City of Cape Town and local community members to restore, clean, and protect the Soet River for future generations. πŸŒπŸ’™

This is more than a cleanup β€” it’s about rebuilding pride in our communities, protecting our oceans, and showing what’s possible when people come together with one purpose: making a difference.

From the streets of Cape Town to the waters of False Bay, every action matters.

Together, we can create cleaner rivers, healthier oceans, and stronger communities.
