Node for Infection Imaging

Infection Imaging with F-18 FDG:

NuMeRI Node for Infection Imaging (NII) is a designated PET/CT facility devoted to infection imaging, located at Tygerberg hospital. F-18 FDG has been used for infection and inflammatory diseases to investigate the cells (especially neutrophils and the monocyte/macrophage group) that express high levels of glucose transporters and hexokinase activity in the human body. The NII mainly focuses on Tuberculosis (TB) infection imaging, considering the Western Province has some of the highest incidence rates in South Africa.

We’d like to congratulate our radiopharmacist, Jannie Le Roux, on his recently accepted paper, “A comparison of labelling characteristics of manual and automated synthesis methods for gallium-68 labelled ubiquicidin” in Applied Radiation and Isotopes.
