3 questions to ask before you renovate:
1️⃣ Is the existing structure sound — or are you about to uncover problems you didn't budget for?
2️⃣ Does the layout actually solve your problem, or are you just refreshing finishes?
3️⃣ Will the cost of renovating get you further than starting fresh?
At Design Scape Architects, we help clients answer all three honestly before a single rand is spent — so the decision you make is the right one.

Every building is made up of three interdependent systems. 📐
The structure — the frame that holds everything up and defines the fundamental spatial organisation of the building.
The services — the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology systems that make the building function for the people inside it.
The skin — the envelope that encloses the building, mediates between interior and exterior, and gives the building its architectural expression.
In a project like the Conlog Office and Factory Development, all three systems carry significant complexity. The structural requirements of a factory environment are different from those of an office. The services of a combined facility must serve both without conflict. And the skin must respond to an industrial programme while producing a building that is architecturally resolved.
When structure, services and skin are designed together from the outset, they reinforce each other. When they are designed in isolation, they fight each other — and the building pays the price.
At Design Scape Architects, integrated design is not an aspiration. It is the method.
