Frame My Picture

Alhamdulillah — a little about me for my new followers and this new adventure. I am a subject teacher, not an art teacher — but deeply in love with art. I notice colour, movement, shadow, nuance. I don’t see what you see, but you feel what I see.

Art has always been my deepest love. Words cannot fully capture it. I thank Allah for this gift, and I thank my parents, family, and friends for believing in me when others told me to give it up. Some said art would give me nothing. Some said I would “end up becoming a painter.” Alhamdulillah… I did.

I can paint my own life with colours and can bring warmth into others’ souls. I am not angry at those who doubted me; their words became fuel, turning frustration into strength.

My dadi cleared the dining table so my paintings could dry. My mum — my first customer and forever critic — always told me not to fear colour: “Add yellow to the blue, pink to the green.” My dad took me to private art classes every weekend, showing me that even if others don’t see my talent, my family does. My brothers, family, relatives and friends have always been my strongest supporters, kind and encouraging, each unique.

As a child, I struggled with confidence but worked hard to follow my dream. Allah had a plan. Finding my style, my community, and my chosen family took time. From one order to another, I slowly built my dream. Alhamdulillah for my fellow Mauritians who trusted my work and kept coming back.

And now, a new chapter unfolds — in a land of new skies and unfamiliar streets, I carry with me the love and support of all those who believed in me from the beginning and the new people, new family and a new community that welcomes my colours and my soul.

This year is about making life brighter and more colourful, insha’Allah. I may struggle with content, but I never miss a chance to paint, draw, and create.
