*The Tragic Death of Amos Manasseh from Keroka, Nyamira County*

Amos Manasseh from Keroka, Nyamira County, was once in a relationship with a young woman. One day she asked him to buy her a gas cylinder, and like a responsible boyfriend who still believed love was an investment, he did.

A few days ago, it seems the woman found someone she considered better than Amos and decided to end the relationship. Amos then asked himself, “This woman has never even bought me a five shilling sweet. Why should I leave her with the gas cylinder I bought with my own money?” He believed in fairness and decided to go and collect what belonged to him.

When Amos went to take the cylinder, the woman started screaming and accused him of stealing. Because ignorance is dangerous, the people who heard her screams did not stop to ask for receipts, did not ask for her side of the story, and did not ask for any evidence. In less than five minutes they became judge, jury and executioner.

Poor Amos was stoned to death.
