One of my favorite experiences in Samoa:
Swimming with sea turtles. Just. Pure. Magic.
The serendipity of it. Snorkeling by the beach and you just happen to see one floating about, minding its own business. Chillin'.
So much of my recent work was inspiration from all the snorkeling around Samoa, so felt proper to add a few in the painting.
Not sure if I should add more or hide them under layers od paint though. Shall see...

Absolutely HATED the contrast of the yellow and cad blue I had on take two, so today just straight up layered it all with leftover phyhalo blue and indian yellow mix, and oooo. I'm in love with this hue and think I'll continue on this pallette for a while.
I then drew on a sea turtle and then decided I didn't like it so painted over it again 🤣 can you find it?
After last year's class with one of my biggest takeaway is not being precious, and just paint over what I don't like, what I like, and try try try. So grateful for her wisdom.
No depressing podcast or news today, listened to an old episode of her Art Juice podcast! Something soothing about it.
Ok something about that bit in the bottom is driving me nuts so will maybe paint over again. Stay tuned...
👋🏻hiya from the beautiful Polynesian island of Samoa 🏝️ and welcome to my tiny, itsy bitsy online space where I post my joy and explorations through paint.
I am an artist, a calligrapher, a mural enthusiast, a mom, a shrimp fan, and currently call Samoa home ❤️ As a fellow Pacific islander myself (tho wayyyy further north!) have been in awe of the oceans and lush greenery of this country, and am trying to capture it with paint ... however I can!
I loved painting growing up but only did it on and off as I travelled the world for study and work. But now am hoping to dive more fully into paint and colors (while listening to podcasts telling me AI is the downfall of art, another discussion for another time!)
Any one else inspired by those gorgeous beaches and lush green vegetation? So much blue and green and 😍
