DAILY PRAYER

Prayer To Know God

Father, I am not worthy to gather up the crumbs under Your table but You are a gracious God, whose nature is loving and merciful and in Your wisdom You have unveiled the building blocks of Your very character and revealed Yourself to us, within the pages of scripture.

Thank You for Your incomparable grace, in that despite my unworthiness You have lifted me up out of the miry clay and set my feet on the rock of my salvation and seated me in heavenly places in Christ.

I pray Lord, that in the power of the Holy Spirit, You would endow me the spirit of wisdom and understanding, so that I may know You more and love You better, with every passing day. I pray also that the eyes of my heart may be illumined by Your Word of truth, so that I may know more fully the hope to which I have been called.

Give me a deeper understanding of what it actually meant for You to die on the cross for my sins. Give me a deeper reverence for Who You truly are. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

QUOTE AND SCRIPTURE

There is a power which inspires the heart, enlightens the mind, and sanctifies human character. It is the power of Grace." — Paul Brunton

Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me

The Motivational Power of Grace

When you experience God's grace, guilt loses its grip, and gratitude becomes your motivation for service.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Romans 6:1-4

Some of us have a hard time with grace. It just seems too easy to believe in Jesus and then make decisions on your own. Shouldn’t Christians be required to live a certain way to please the Lord? The problem with this reasoning is that it mixes legalism with grace by saying, “Sure, we are saved by grace, but after salvation, you’d better follow the rules if you want to stay in God’s favor.”

Grace is a far greater and more powerful motivator than the law. If you have to perform certain works in order to please God, guilt is your constant companion because you can never be good enough (Ephesians 2:8-9). Every time you fail to live up to your own expectations, you may question whether the Lord loves you—or maybe even whether you’re really saved. Our Father doesn’t want us to live in bo***ge to performance. We’ve already received His acceptance, and there is nothing more we can add to it.

Grace not only sets us free from guilt but also motivates us to obey the Lord and serve Him out of love and gratitude for everything He’s done for us. Instead of feeling burned out or trapped in fear, we will have a burning passion for Him.

When you truly understand and live in God’s grace, you’ll be energized because obedience and service will be a natural result of His overflowing love.

How to Know God’s Will

When you spend consistent time in the Word and authentic prayer, the Holy Spirit will enable you to discern His will.

John 14:26

Proverbs 3:5-6

It can be easy to fool ourselves into believing that what we want to do is also what God wants us to do. When we believe we’ve heard from the Lord, it is important to ask ourselves some questions:

Is the message I heard consistent with God’s Word? The Lord will never tell you to do anything that goes against His Word. If you feel prompted to do something contrary to Scripture, you can be certain that it is not of the Lord.

Can I confidently ask God to enable me to do this? If you are feeling uneasy about requesting God’s help, that may be a sign the direction did not originate with Him.

Is it wise? The heavenly Father never calls believers to act foolishly. If there is no discernible purpose in the action, you may need to question whether the message was from Him.

Does it fit with my identity in Christ? As God’s child, you are being conformed to the likeness of Christ. If you feel led to do something that is inconsistent with the character of Jesus, then you can be sure God hasn’t called you to do it.

The Lord is with you, in the presence of the Holy Spirit, enabling you to hear His voice and perceive His guidance for your life (John 14:26). Before rushing into action, ask Him to guide you to make good decisions.
