Otto Schulz Pro 275 Crash at Alabama International Dragway

We are very thankful that Otto Schulz walked away from his horrific crash at the Bama Outlaws Radial Race during Pro 275 in Steele, AL today.

If you’ve seen the video, you’ll see that he went for one of the wildest rides that I’ve seen in drag racing! Reese Brothers Race Cars built a safe car.

This is proof that wearing proper safety equipment and taking safety serious is proven to work!

Our race weekend in Alabama ended in the first round of eliminations last night. Otto walked away from a devastating crash with just a few bumps and bruises. “When Legends Rise” on the other hand is destroyed! It went out as a new personal best of 3.89 at 195 mph.

As I crossed the 1/8th mile finish and lifted off the throttle, it was stuck wide open, which started the sequence of the horrible crash.

There are so many people to thank. First and foremost God! My wife Kim and our entire family. David Reese and Reese Brothers Racing for building race cars that truly protect the driver. The Alabama International Speedway, Debra and the EMT crew along with the safety safari for getting to me so quickly and putting out the fire. Riverview Medical Center for their great medical attention. Don from Flo Racing for comforting Kim at the scene. Al Tucci for helping Kim “locate” the car. The volunteer tow truck driver for his service and help getting the wreck into the trailer. Andy Aeursch for being my right hand man and taking complete control at our pit. Kim could not have done this without you. Tim and Lisa Oros, Corey and Ryan Wurst, Jimmy Lopez, Kenny Newsome and Mike Esposito for helping Andy get the car into the trailer and cleaning up the pit. The entire Ambrosini family and crew for immediately showing up at the crash to check on me. Wade Mooney, you left your post to make sure I was ok. Mitch Mika, you were watching from home and sent over “Cowboy” to help Kim. He was truly amazing. To the countless family and friends who have touched base with calls and texts, prayed and thanked God with us. We love each and every one of you.
