First Capital EMS
06/30/2026
Thanks to a generous grant from Columbia Gas, First Capital EMS has equipped every in-service ambulance with a new carbon monoxide (CO) meter.
These lightweight, maintenance-free monitors will help our crews detect dangerous levels of carbon monoxide before they become a threat to our providers, patients, or members of the public.
The monitors are programmed to:
โ ๏ธ Warn at 25 ppm of carbon monoxide
๐จ Alarm at 50 ppm of carbon monoxide
If one of our monitors activates while we're caring for a patient, our crews will immediately move everyone to a safe location and request the fire department to investigate the potential CO hazard.
Carbon monoxide is often called the "silent killer" because it is colorless, odorless, and can quickly become life-threatening. Having these monitors on every responding ambulance adds another important layer of protection for both our community and our personnel.
A sincere thank you to Columbia Gas for investing in the safety of the communities we proudly serve. Your support helps us continue providing the highest level of emergency medical care while keeping everyone safer.
Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
As many gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and remember those who gave everything for our nation.
From all of us at First Capital EMS, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes, their families, and all who have served.
Please celebrate safely this holiday weekend:
๐บ๐ธ Donโt drink and drive
๐บ๐ธ Wear your seatbelt
๐บ๐ธ Stay hydrated and check on loved ones
๐บ๐ธ Call 911 for emergencies
We remember. We honor. We thank you.
