He lived for twelve years in North Carolina for work and education and move back to the city of York a few years ago. He currently is employed at PA Comprehensive Behavioral Health as a mobile therapist. Shareef was a co-Founder & teacher at the Harambee Reading Academy in York and was a Black History instructor at North Carolina Central University in Durham NC, where he also was a youth advocate
in the local Rites of Passage boys program. Shareef received a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Masters degree in Substance Abuse Counseling from Grand Canyon University. In York since his return to York Shareef had been a Co-Founder of the local organization Call to Action that organized many of the local Black Lives matter demonstrations and the city's African American First Friday. He also is the organizer of the city men's Sunday mental health walk group. Throughout Shareef Hameed's adult life he has active in facilitating growth and change in individuals and groups. He has gathered a broad range of skills in human interaction and development. He is a father of two children, enjoys sports, exercise and learning. Shareef is highly committed to the process of helping others reach their highest potential. Now he wishes to serve the community of city residents in this same way, by involving the great diversity our city offers in making the changes and improvements needed in the city so we can all live happier and more productive lives.
