Ive noticed quite a few times recently when at work and out of work many motorists are unsure what to do if they breakdown in a dangerous location, often they phone AA or RAC but need to call the police when in a dangerous location on 999 where appropriate.

Where safe exit the vehicle and wait away from traffic on a verge if possible. I phoned the police on behalf of the motorist broken down in a live lane on a dual carriageway. They promptly closed the road for a few minutes so vehicle could be pushed to safety in a lay by close by.
