A Regression-Based Procedure for Markov Transition Probability Estimation in Land Change Modeling 10/26/2020

Clark Labs' Ron Eastman and Jiena He just published a paper titled "A Regression-Based Procedure for Markov Transition Probability Estimation in Land Change Modeling".

A Regression-Based Procedure for Markov Transition Probability Estimation in Land Change Modeling Land change models commonly model the expected quantity of change as a Markov chain. Markov transition probabilities can be estimated by tabulating the relative frequency of change for all transitions between two dates. To estimate the appropriate transition probability matrix for any future date re...

Clark Labs' alumni, Assaf Anyamba (Ph.D, 1997) is featured in the new Netflix series Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything hosted by Latif Nasser.

In "Clouds" (Episode 5), Anyamba describes how massive amounts of NASA satellite-derived climate data and disease data from a variety of sources are combined using cloud computing technology and machine learning methods to map and forecast areas at potential risk for disease outbreaks globally. He also illustrates how these satellite measurements are related to focal ground observations of the environment and mosquito vector populations that drive disease outbreaks.
