Shop Accountability Process Announcement
12/20/16

We as the members of The Shop collective are announcing that there have been multiple incidents of sexual assault and domestic violence within our space. One of the Shop Members who perpetrated these acts has been removed from the community, and two other members are going through individual accountability processes which must be adhered to or they will be asked to leave.
The Shop as a whole is going through an accountability process around our perpetuation of an unsafe space through the culture of misogyny, racism, and r**e culture that currently exists at the Shop. This accountability process has been brought forth by a delegation of Worcester community members, asking The Shop to commit to a series of actions toward dismantling these systems of oppression and cycles of abuse at The Shop.

The Shop is Committing to:
- The cancellation of all events until we can guarantee people’s safety.
- Hosting trainings and workshops around these issues.
- Supporting the needs and uplifting the voices of women and people of color
- Asking members to leave if they won’t adhere to these terms.

We are completely committed to doing the hard work of transforming our space and ourselves in a quest to create a truly safer space for the community.
This message is only announcing the first step in a long road of growth and healing. We encourage everyone in the worcester community, especially men, to use this as an opportunity to check in on our own behaviors with an open heart and willingness to change. These are issues that affect all of us.

Feedback is encouraged and dialogue is ongoing. If you have any questions or would like to join the conversation, please feel free to contact us. Comment below or send us a personal message.

Bread and Puppet Theater | Puppeteers and Sourdough Bakers of Glover “We believe in puppet theater as a wholesome and powerful language that can touch men and women and children alike, and we hope that our plays are true and are saying what has to be said, and that they add to your enjoyment and enlightenment.”
